Stephen Chow officially confirmed that Kung-Fu Hustle will have a sequel… sort of.
Back in 2004 Kung Fu Hustle was released along with all its amazing action scenes, slapstick comedy and unforgettable characters. It grossed $102 million at the global box office and a solid 90% on rotten tomatoes. Chow not only starred in the film, but directed, co-wrote and co-produced the movie also.
Rumors had been swirling that a sequel could be in pre-production of this epic movie, but Chow had yet to address the issue… until this past Sunday at a promotional event in Guangzhou for his newest film, The New King of Comedy.

He said that the film is not really “Kung Fu Hustle 2”, it tells the modern story that happened in foreign countries, but it has the same direction as “Kung Fu Hustle.” When asked if he would appear in person, or run a dragon in the film, Chow responded with a smirk.
Chow is currently finishing his highly anticipated sequel to his blockbuster movie The Mermaid which is planned for release this summer. He said that he will then movie on to directing Kung Fu Hustle 2 after it release.
